Following increasing of Taliban aggressive attacks on positions of Afghan National Defense and Security Forces, officials for the ministry of defense say Taliban fighters will be targeted if they continue their attacks on ANDSF in the country.
In his recent remarks in connection with Taliban attacks during recent days, acting minister of defense Asadullah Khalid said Afghan National Defense and Security Forces have been in defense position based on instruction of the country’s President.
“If Taliban continue to violate the peace agreement, their fighters will be targeted in all areas by the country’s defense and security forces,” Khalid said.
Acting minister of defense added that reduction in violence was supposed to be continued to result in ceasefire in the country, but Taliban has increased their attacks in which civilians have sustained heavy casualties.
Meanwhile, Afghan military experts by pointing to offensive and defense positions of the country’s ANDSF say good management, having coordination in battles and better delivering supply to ANDSF in battlefields were so effective and should be prioritized of the country’s defense and security organs.
“In recent years, to prevent from increasing casualties of the country’s Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF), a clear mechanism should be taken,” said Amarkhil, an Afghan military expert.
Hadi Khalid, former deputy minister of interior and military expert says recruitment and training processes of the country’s defense and security forces should be standardized as ongoing trainings being received by ANA and ANP personnel are not effective, saying that all defense and security personnel should be trained in accordance to date and time.
“The country’s defense and security organs should have close coordination when conduct military operations in the country as having close coordination can be effective for controlling of fighting in battlefields and preventing from increasing casualties,” Khalid said, stressing that political leaders should have consensus towards the country’s peace and warring issues.
Although the country’s defense and security organs are informing of increasing capabilities of ANDSF in battlefields, a number of military experts believe that for better conducting of military operations and suppressing terrorist groups in the country, the country’s defense and security forces should be fully equipped with modern military arms and equipment.
Meanwhile, Acting Defense Minister Assadullah Khalid has also said the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) will end their defensive stance by the end of this week, criticizing the Taliban for “breaching” their commitments during the reduction in violence period.
It is worth mentioning that at the end of the reduction in violence week, the US and the Taliban signed an agreement in Doha, Qatar, on February 29 while a joint Afghan-US declaration was announced in Kabul on the same day. Based on these two documents, the intra-Afghan talks should begin on March 10.
