KABUL: The spokesperson to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) once again urged the citizens of the country to take the ministry’s recommendations and health messages seriously and to act accordingly.
Waheedullah Mayar, speaking on the series of daily press conferences on Coronavirus on Monday at Government Media and Information Center, added: “The MoPH has called on people to avoid any formal or informal gatherings in halls, and also limit their excursion and outings”
Concerned about the lack of attention by the citizens to the health messages of the MoPH, he said, if the situation continues the same, the positive incidences of coronavirus will increase. Mayar added that the vibrant presence of citizens in parks, resorts and city centers indicates that the deadly threat of the Coronavirus has not yet been taken seriously by many of the people.
The MoPH’s spokesperson once again urged people to limit their patrols outside the home, using the experiences of countries that have taken the threat of the Coronavirus seriously. He said the total number of people with coronavirus in the country has risen to 40, with six more confirmed cases of coronavirus till Sunday evening. Mayar confirmed one person’s death from coronavirus in Mazar-e-Sharif and added, a 40-year-old man who died from corona in Mazar-e-Sharif on Sunday also suffered from chronic liver and kidney disease.
He said that the death toll from coronavirus is higher in the elders and those with heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
