KABUL: Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Idrees Zaman met with Germany’s State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Martin Jaeger and his accompanying delegation, a MoFA statement said.
Briefing State Secretary Jaeger on the Peace Process and Government of Afghanistan’s Seven-Point Peace Plan led and owned by Afghanistan, Minister Zaman appreciated German cooperation with the country throughout the years, the statement added.
Providing information on his visit to Afghanistan, Jaeger said that the Government of Germany is committed to continuing cooperation with Afghanistan.
He also recalled the €72 million contributions of his country in the current year and €420 million contributions made over the previous years with Afghanistan, adding that Afghanistan had received the highest amount of assistance from the German Government in the recent years, according to the statement.
The two sides discussed the expansion of bilateral relations, German support to the peace talks, the upcoming meeting of International Contact Group and the current political situation in the country.
This meeting was also attended by the Special Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany for Afghanistan Ambassador Markus Potzel as well as the German Ambassador to Kabul, the statement added.
