Meeting seeks implementation of president’s commitments for Ghazni province

KABUL: The second session on follow up of President Ghani’s commitments to province was held yesterday morning with Second Vice President Mohammed Sarwar Danesh on the chair, a statement said.
According to press office of the second VP, the session discussed President’s commitments for Ghazni province and the administrative office of the president briefed the session on findings of a workshop for reviewing of the overall situation of the province and implementation of the president’s commitments for Ghazni people.
According to administrative office of the president, the workshop discussed on equipping of the local security forces, encouraging of women working in security forces of the province, prevention of illegal vehicles, addressing prisoners issues, regaining of lost districts from enemies, arresting of illegal armed men, moving of the Police Headquarter from the public place, timely paying of salaries of the security forces and organizing of capacity building programs for the security forces in Ghazni province.
The officials of the security organs briefed the session on the steps taken so far, saying two districts of the province were recaptured by the security forces as well as programs organized to help improve the capacity of the security forces in the province, the statement added.
Meanwhile the ministries and independent directorates’ officials briefed the session on their activities in line with president’s commitments for Ghazni people, saying progress made on activation of local airport, removing of barriers before establishing of the industrial park, construction of dams, saffron cultivation, establishing of spring houses and processing factories.
The ministries’ representatives told the session that steps were also taken for extension of electricity to the province, addressing education and higher education challenges in the provinces as well as developing of the master plan of the Ghazni city.
Praising the organs’ activities and programs for Ghazni, the meeting said a number of president’s commitments have been implemented but some remained due to insecurity and lack of proper budget.
According to the statement, the meeting also asked the ministries and independent directorates to submit their activity reports to the administrative office of the president.
The meeting also asked security organs to do more for security of highways and roads connecting districts with capital of Ghazni province.
