KABUL: A 400-meter irrigation canal worth nearly AFN 2 million funded by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind) has been constructed in Kozi Wazi village, Wazi Zadran district of Paktia province.
Designed to directly benefit 55 families, the irrigation canal will properly supply water to a total of 600 jeribs of land which will lead to a remarkable increase in agricultural productivities that play an important role in rural economic well-being.
Furthermore, some 1,234 labor days have been created for both local skilled and unskilled laborers during the implementation of the canal project.
It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Citizens’ Charter-funded development projects are currently underway, while some of them have already been completed in various communities of Paktia province.
