Int’l observers monitoring IEC works: Nuristani

KABUL: Addressing a press conference here yesterday in Kabul, the head of Independent Election Commission said that the processing of electoral related information was rapidly ongoing, and the preliminary results will be announced later in October.
“All election material has arrived from all provinces and the processing of information at the data centers is ongoing,” said Hawa Alam Nuristani, the head of IEC during a media briefing. According to her the international observers were monitoring the commission’s works on daily basis and they were satisfied with the process.
“All works underway and the primary results will be announced on its mentioned time,” Nuristani stressed, saying that the commission is committed to transparency and impartiality and praised media and Afghan forces role in presidential election. Meanwhile, Chief of Independent Electoral Complaint Commission Zuhra Bayan Shinwari said that “4528 complaints have been received by the commission and would be addressed soon. She said some of the complaints were not serious and already addressed by the provincial offices. The heads of the commission reiterated their commitments toward counting the biometric votes, saying non-biometric votes would be not invalid.
