Indian Modi congratulates President Ghani’s success in preliminary election results

KABUL: Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has congratulated Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for his success in the preliminary presidential election results, a statement from the Presidential Palace said Tuesday.
The Indian Prime Minister, via a telephonic conversation, also congratulated successfully holding of the presidential poll and added: “India as a friend and neighbor of Afghanistan; also as the biggest world democracy, widely supports democracy in Afghanistan.”
Representing the government and the people of Afghanistan, President Ghani said his country not only as a friend and neighbor of India, but also as a strategic friend of India appreciates its continued support to Afghanistan, the statement quoted.
Modi also expressed his country’s strong support to an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process and said his country wouldn’t only stand beside Afghanistan in peace process, but also in war on terrorism and reiterated that his country’s cooperation would continue with a democratic, advanced and stable Afghanistan. Modi also invited President Ghani to visit India, so that closely talk about some certain regional and world issues.
