KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a telephone conversation with Helmand Governor Gen. Mohammad Yasin Khan said that fighting in the province would heavily cost the enemies and assured full support to the Afghan forces.
Helmand Governor wrote on his Facebook page that President Ghani had spoken to him about the situation in Helmand and assured him that he had ordered the security agencies to take Helmand fighting seriously.
“The Helmand war would heavily cost the enemies,” he quoted the President, reiterating central government’s full support to Helmand people and security forces.
This comes as fierce fighting broke out between Afghan security forces and the Taliban in the center and districts of Helmand province on Sunday morning, which according to security sources, hundreds of Taliban fighters have been killed and wounded.
