KABUL: Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, armed forces command meeting was held yesterday at Gul Khana Palace.
In the meeting, last week terrorist attack on first vice president Amrullah Saleh was condemned and relevant officials were tasked to thoroughly investigate the attack, identify perpetrators and introduce them to judicial organs.
Afterwards, the country’s defense and security officials delivered the meeting their reports related to overall security situation, increasing of Taliban attacks in Ghazni, Balkh and Logar provinces and security threats as well as security programs for spoiling security threats.
Meanwhile, head of Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) Shamim Khan Katawazi delivered the meeting his report on increasing of coordination for improvement of security situation in provinces.
Praising the country’s defense and security forces for their bravery and efforts, first vice president Amrullah Saleh and second vice president Sarwar Danesh stressed that further works should be done on particular plans to build capacity of ANDSF.
Vice presidents by pointing to capabilities and abilities of the country’s defense and security forces in repulsing the enemy’s continued attacks said the country’s defense and security forces had full support of the international community and Afghanistan government.
In the meeting, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani considered starting of direct talks between Afghanistan government and Taliban as outcome of sacrifices of the country’s defense and security forces, saying that the government would run the process with full strength and determination which would result in ending the ongoing war, dignified and lasting peace demanded by each single Afghan.
Praising the country’s defense and security forces for their bravery and sacrifices, President Ghani security organs’ suggestions in connection with changes within ANDSF were approvable and an amendment plan should be made to further improve the process.
The country’s President instructed security officials to pay serious attention to security of the country’s highways and those creating problems to people should be removed from the ANDSF.
At the end of his speech, President Ghani said that the government’s stance in connection with peace was clear and its negotiating team was representing a unified Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the government would go forward to reaching lasting peace with strong position, will and program.
