Governance should turn into national process, President Ghani

KABUL: President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in a meeting of open governance initiative at the Gul Khana Palace, the other day, said governance should be turned into a national process.
The meeting’s participants, Abdul Subhan Rauf, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office and Khalilullah Motawakil, the national coordinator and head of the open governance initiative secretariat, shared information about the open governance initiative in Afghanistan, said the statement.
Rauf said Afghanistan with 88 percent open governance standard gained membership of the open governance partnership.
Thanking for development in the field of open governance in Afghanistan, President Ghani and after hearing their report in the connection, said codification of a six-year open governance strategic plan was a need.
He said the related organs including the ministry of finance, ministry of information and culture, the presidential financial advisory, national procurement authority and the presidential office spokesman should discuss issues related to open legislation, open budget, open audit/investigation, open contract and open information, in order the open governance to be implemented in the said institutions.
President Ghani also said that the open governance should be turned into a national process and added that in the open governance, mayors and the programs of the citizenship covenant have been called the good examples, the statement quoted.
According to the president, the government of national unity has stepped up in many areas of open governance, among them providing online procurements and budget systematization.
