KABUL: The visiting Afghan minister of Foreign Affairs Salahuddin Rabbani met his German counterpart Heiko Maas in Berlin the other day, a statement from MoFA said yesterday.
According to the statement, Minister Rabbani thanked German’s warm welcome and hinted to historic and bilateral ties between the two countries. He also praised German forces’ work within the framework of Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, the statement added.
FM Rabbani also praised Germany’s readiness for easing of intra-Afghan talks and its stance for safeguarding of the past achievements.
Meanwhile German FM emphasized on protection of Afghan women’s role and human rights in peace process, adding Germany was committed to its support of Afghanistan. He also emphasized on transparency of the upcoming elections; the statement added.
Hinting to Afghan government’s stance in peace talks, FM Rabbani said safeguarding achievements were key redline of the Afghan government in peace talks, the statement added.
According to another report, FM Rabbani also met German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Müller during his trip, a MoFA statement added.
Thanking Germany’s humanitarian support to Afghanistan, FM Rabbani said achievements made on increasing women’s role and human rights in Afghanistan would be preserved in peace talks, adding National Unity Government would remain committed to safeguarding of the existing values.
In his turn, the German minister called Afghanistan as his country’s number one strategic partner in the region, adding his country would continue support for development of Afghanistan, the statement added.
