KABUL: The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Amir Abdullahian, discussed some key issues including recent incidents against Afghan refugees in the neighboring country, a statement of the ministry said the other day.
The two sides talked on Afghan refugees’ overall problems in Iran, recent incidents, security of diplomatic missions and diplomats, trade, economy, and other issues of mutual interest, the statement said.
Minister Muttaqi said an Afghan delegation would soon visit Iran to discuss issues of Afghans residing and incarcerated in Iran.
The two sides said that some malicious circles and self-interested media are trying to create enmity among the Afghan and Iranian people, paving the way for violence.
Stressing prevention of such issues, they pledged to allow no one to create an atmosphere of mistrust between the two friendly and neighboring nations.
The Iranian foreign minister expressed pleasure over IEA leadership’s order to ban narcotic cultivation and trade, assuring cooperation with Afghan traders to create alternative livelihoods.
Minister Muttaqi thanked his Iranian counterpart for his goodwill, adding that his endeavor was for Afghan traders to be enabled to copy, cultivate, and utilize Iranian agriculture to grow fruitful products instead of opium.
