KABUL: The European Union and NATO representatives have assured of continued cooperation in support to Afghanistan’s durable peace and stability.
NATO and the European Union are working together to establish lasting peace and ‘long-term stability’ in Afghanistan, said NATO’s Civilian Representative to Afghanistan Stefano Pontecorvo in a tweet Sunday.
Meanwhile, EU Ambassador to Kabul Van Brandt reaffirmed his support for the Afghan peace process, saying he was working with the Afghan government to establish ‘strong civilian police close to citizenry in Afghanistan.’
“Coordinated joint efforts of the international community are a prerequisite to help Afghanistan build strong institutions for stability and lasting peace,” NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy said in a tweet.
The remarks came at a time, the Afghan and Taliban representatives in Doha are negotiating conditions for intra-Afghan talks that will determine a political settlement in Afghanistan, including achievements of the past 20 years.
