KABUL: Water wastage in the country’s major cities, particularly the capital Kabul, lack of proper canalization, unmethodically digging wells and some other similar illegal activities are continuing in the country.
The National Environment Protection Agency (NEPA) should jointly work with the related organs, including the Ministry of Urban Development and the people to prevent air and water pollution.
The ministry of urban development should not allow expansion of construction works at the surrendering of the city, unless standard wells and canalizations projects implemented.
Also, the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) in coordination with the related organs such as the National Environment Protection Agency and Water Management Sector to provide awareness program on the protection of both surface and underground water and to avoid wastage of water, all over the country.
The Kabul Municipality is extremely incompetent about its daily works.
It might have been collecting garbage and trashes around the city and throw them at the vicinities of the city. Unfortunately, the drug addicts are usually evacuating the daily garbage, as they seek for something to sell and earn money for their daily use of drugs. In order to have a good environment, the Kabul Municipality should do its best to maintain and monitor the capital situations.
The citizens should also pay attention to the surroundings of their houses and not throw garbage everywhere, but to cooperate with the municipality in keeping the city clean and water protected of any pollutions.
Throwing garbage everywhere would extremely pollute the environment and cause outbreak of various diseases in the capital city with the highest level of populations.
The sidewalks, streets and all residential sites should be protected of garbage and trashes and a countrywide practical plan should be made to have a sound environment.
