KABUL: Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah chaired the displaced and returnees’ executive meeting here at the Sapidar Palace on Tuesday, a statement said.
Addressing the session, minister of refugees and repatriates Sayed Hussain Alemy Balkhi said his led ministry could register around 95 thousand of displaced families, where 52 thousand of which being supported by the international donor agencies and 12 others by the Afghan government. “We are trying to attract more support for remaining 31 thousand displaced families,” the statement from Chief Executive Press Office said.
The representatives of the ministry of refugees and repatriates and UN high commissioner for refugees briefed the session on upcoming international meeting of migration which would be held in Geneva from 17 to 18 December, calling the meeting a good opportunity for attracting more support to the displaced and returnees, according to the statement.
Thanking the ministry of refugees and repatriates as well as the UN high commissioner for refugees’ efforts, Dr. Abdullah instructed them to speed up their winter support programs for the returnees and displaced families.
The Chief Executive said a technical committee should be established to specify those in need and prioritize their works accordingly before the arrival of winter season, the statement added.
