KABUL: Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif received the visiting chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Sunday.
“Negotiations between Dr. Zarif and Dr. Abdullah Abdullah have started at Iran’s Foreign Ministry building. Iran has always sought a prosperous, independent and developed Afghanistan with peace and stability. We do everything we can to assist genuine inter-Afghan dialogue,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh announced in a tweet.
The meeting focused on the latest developments in peace talks in Afghanistan.
Heading a delegation, Dr. Abdullah arrived in Tehran yesterday to discuss the peace process in Afghanistan as well as bilateral issues.
During the three-day visit, he will also meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and other senior officials.
