ABA Strives to Expand Correspondent Banking Relations

The Afghanistan Banks Association (ABA) is consistently working to expand correspondent banking relations and actively engages in international platforms to advocate on behalf of the banking sector.
In this regard, on September 22, 2025, ABA organized an online meeting with the President of the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce (AACC).
Discussions focused on strengthening correspondent banking ties with leading international banks, participation in global banking conferences, and mobilizing support from international organizations to help Afghan banks establish relations with foreign counterparts.
It is worth noting that correspondent banking relations are steadily expanding. Each year, hundreds of millions of dollars in trade-related imports and exports are processed through banks. This not only strengthens international trade but also has a positive impact on the prices of goods and services while promoting and consolidating Afghanistan’s formal economy.
