Crime graph dropped by 21 percent in 1398: MoI

KABUL: Launching joint and independent operations and re-capturing ten districts are major achievements of the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI) in the fight against terrorism.
As a result of independent and joint operations, more than 9300 enemy personnel, including shadow provincial governors, district governors and enemy’s military commanders, were killed and more than 2900 others wounded, the Ministry of Interior said.
Meanwhile, more than 1900 suspicious terrorists have been arrested while planning terrorist attacks. More than 16,000 criminal incidents have taken place across the country in the 1398, and police have arrested more than 20,000 suspects in relation with these incidents, according to the ministry.
“The crime graph of 1398 has dropped 21% compared to 1397” said Massoud Andarabi, Acting Minister for the Interior Affairs speaking “State Accountability Program to the Nation” conference at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) on Saturday.
The anti-narcotics police have carried out more than 3600 operations in the country in 1398, as a result 4200 drug dealers were arrested who were connected with the drug cases, 96 drug labs and 30 large drug stores were discovered and destroyed, he added.
Also, more than 1100 tons of drugs including heroin, opium, hashish, morphine, poppy, and other chemicals have been seized as a result of anti-narcotics operations from various parts of the country. The MoI has sent more than 1000 people to various countries in order to be trained in the field of security, to professionalize and build the capacity also to get trainings about the police forces abroad, the minister noted.
He said more than 68,000 people have graduated from various courses after getting vocational training, and more than 10,000 local and national police officers have vocational training plans on hand. “The total revenue of the MoI reached 10 billion afs in 1398 and this ministry saved about two billion afs as a result of clear regulating the livelihood and salary of police forces. The MoI, in order to attract people and cooperate with the police forces, has conducted more than 2200 meetings and consultative meetings in different parts of the country in order to gain public assurance in the police forces.”
