KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health Spokesman, Wahidullah Mayar, at a press conference on Monday said that 58 new COVID-19 cases have been registered in the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 665.Z
The 58 new cases were registered in Kandahar (28), Kabul (13), Helmand (7), Nimruz (6), Takhar (3) and Kunduz (1), according to the Health Ministry. The total cases in Herat is now 280.
Kandahar health officials said that with the 28 new positive coronavirus cases the total in the province rose to 75. With the seven new cases reported in Helmand, the total in the province is now 9, local officials said.
Meanwhile, up to 1,000 travelers enter and exit Kabul daily through the main gate in Pul-i-Charkhi area in the east of the city, according to officials.
It comes despite Kabul governor saying three days ago that roads leading to the capital will be closed from Sunday.
Apart from main roads, there are secondary roads connected to the capital, which have made it difficult for authorities to supervise enforcement of the lockdown.
The lockdown in Kabul was first declared last month for three weeks. On Saturday, it was extended for two more weeks with strict measures.
