KABUL: The National Procurement Commission (NPC) meeting with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on the chair held meeting through video conference and has approved 33 procurement-related items worth 9.5 billion Afghanis, a presidential press office statement said on Tuesday.
The items also include the purchase of 170 ambulances and 70 other vehicles for transferring of the COVID-19 victims. The proposal was made by the Ministry of Public Health to the meeting, the statement added.
“To strengthen the fight against coronavirus, the NPC recommended purchase of 170 ambulances and 70 other vehicles for the transfer of victim bodies,” the statement said, adding other approved items were procurement of the cereals and stationary for the Ministry of National Defense.
The NPC also approved contract included a consultative service project to assess the environmental and social impacts of the Naghlo dam and a consultant recruitment project to prepare production of solar energy related to Afghanistan Breshna Company, according to the statement.
The Meeting also endorsed procurement of essential equipment for the universities and higher education institutions in the country.
The president was quoted in the statement, emphasizing on the logistics related to the security and defense forces of the country in order to strengthen the better coherence and coordination between them in implementing the contracts of these institutions.
In addition to its members, the commission meeting was also attended by officials from the National Procurement Office, national and international observers, the statement said.
