COVID-19: Over 170 cases tested positive in Afghanistan

KABUL:  Coronavirus epidemic took seven victims over the last twenty-four hours, during which another 172 cases tested positive, an official said Monday.
The total cases reached to 1,703, as Wahidullah Mayar, the spokesman of the Ministry of Public Health told media that seven people have died of the lethal illness taking the tally to 57 since the outbreak of the disease in the impoverished nation.
After surfacing the new cases countrywide, in Balkh province, 34 people reported infected to the virus, while 33 people in Herat, 21 in Kandahar, eight in Pakia, eight in Baghlan, seven in Kunduz, five in Ghoor, five in Sar-e-Pul, four in Nimruz, four in Samangan, three in Khost, three each in Nangarhar, Laghman and Faryab, Helmand two, one each in Paktika and Panjshir, Mayar detailed.
Likewise, two people lost their lives to the pandemic in Herat province, two in Balkh and one each in Kandahar and Kunar provinces, according to the spokesman.
Mayar said 34 of the fresh cases were detected in Balkh, 33 in Herat, 27 Kabul, 21 in Kandahar, eight each in Paktia and Baghlan, seven in Kunduz and five each in Sar-i-Pul and Ghor, four each in Samangan and Nimroz, three each in Faryab, Nangarhar, Khost and Laghman and two in Helmand and one each in Paktika and Panjsher.
The official also said 13 people have recovered from the diseases over the last 24 hours taking the whole ever recovered to 220, including 85 in the capital Kabul.
