COVID-19: MoPH reports 1,532 new cases, 71 deaths

KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health on Friday reported 1,532 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 4,540 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The ministry also reported 71 deaths and 384 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period.

The deaths were reported in Kabul (20), Balkh (5), Nangarhar (3), Takhar (5), Kunduz (1), Faryab (3), Maidan Wardak (5), Helmand (1), Paktia (4), Nimroz (4), Badakhshan (3), Kapisa (1), Logar (3), Bamiyan (5), Badghis (1), Farah (1), Khost (2), Paktika (1), Sar-e-Pul (1) and Samangan (2) provinces.

The new cases were reported in Kabul (193), Herat (5), Kandahar (54), Balkh (51), Nangarhar (156), Takhar (89), Baghlan (26), Kunduz (12), Faryab (29), Maidan Wardak (64), Parwan (96), Helmand (26), Paktia (23), Nimroz (51), Badakhshan (68), Kapisa (78), Bamiyan (182), Logar (12), Laghman (87), Panjshir (41), Zabul (35), Ghor (64), Farah (42), Khost (13), Paktika (22) and Jawzjan (13) provinces.

So far Afghanistan has recorded 113,126 cases of COVID-19, 4,594 deaths and 67,183 recoveries, according to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health.

The data shows that so far, 588,770 samples have been tested for COVID-19 and there are 40,743 active cases of the virus in the country.

According to the ministry, the COVID-19 positivity rate in the county is 33.74%.

Figures by Johns Hopkins University show that the number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 3,900,535 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 180,007,746.
