Construction of schools govt.’s national priority: President Ghani

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani presided over a meeting for preparing a clear mechanism to consider land for construction of six thousand schools in the country, a statement from the presidential press office said yesterday.
During the meeting, acting minister of finance, minister of rural rehabilitation and development, acting minister of urban development and land and deputy minister of education presented their reports and briefed the president on their programs for providing land and construction of the schools, the statement added.
Hearing their reports, the president said a clear mechanism and coordination was needed to specify the duties and speed up the process of construction. The president went on saying that governors, district governors and police chiefs should help the project, as it was government’s top and national priority.
“Till inauguration of the new education year, tangible steps should be taken in the areas of education and construction of the schools,” the president told the meeting as quoted in the statement.
