Commandos’ braveries against insurgents commendable

While the U.S. is intending to withdraw all its service members from Afghanistan by September 11, the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attack, the Afghan forces are now showing remarkable skills and tactics in war on terror, as they could suppress enemies in each and every corner of the country.
Besides this, the forces could also release hundreds of military and civil prisoners in different provinces from the Taliban-controlled areas as well as could inflict heavy casualties upon the insurgent groups.
The Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday that Commandos freed 62 people, including 36 security force members, from a Taliban prison on Tuesday night in Baghlan province. According to the ministry, the prisoners were freed during a special operation by Commando forces in Baghlan Markazi district of the province.
Four Taliban members were killed during the operation and a large number of weapons and ammunition was destroyed, said the MoD. The Taliban has not yet commented. This comes after at least 41 prisoners were released from a Taliban prison during an operation by Commandos in Herat province on Monday night as well.
According to a statement issued by the Commandos Media Office on Tuesday, the operation was carried out on Monday night in Marwa village of Pashtun Zarghun district of Herat province. As a result, 41 prisoners, including 19 soldiers, were rescued from the prison.
Even with the presence of U.S. service members, the Afghan security forces in the recent years have conducted almost all of the operations against the militant groups. The American forces engaged in some particular operations jointly with the Afghan Special Forces or provided the Afghan security forces with some airstrikes on the ground. They are well trained and capable of defeating the militants.
The only problem ahead of the brave Afghan forces is lack of the modern and developed military equipment. Since the Afghan forces are in forefront of war on terror, therefore it is of immense important for US and its allies to equip the forces with essential and modern equipment, so that they could defeat terror in the country and even in the region.
On the other hand, to keep the militants at bay or to prevent another 9/11 type attack, the U.S. and allies need to extend strong support to the Afghan forces as Afghanistan caught among some opportunist neighbors who provide safe havens and training camps for the terrorist groups to destroy the country and destabilize the region and even the world.
To fight terrorism in the region, the US, NATO and their allies should support Afghan Security Forces. The terrorist groups are international threats and if not prevented then their roots will reach to other parts of the world.
Afghan forces fighting terrorism today to provide a safe and sound environment for the future generations. Afghans should understand that the Afghan security forces are on the frontline of war on terror not only to safeguard Afghanistan but also the whole region and even that of the world. It’s up to all Afghans and the foreign countries to stand beside the Afghan forces till full elimination of terror outfits in the region.
