Cases of violence against journalists to be probed soon

KABUL: In order to identify practical ways of strengthening work relation among journalists, government and the International Community, for impunity of the journalists, a meeting titled ‘the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists’ was held at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) the other day.
The main aim of the meeting was also seeking practical ways to end impunity for crimes against journalists and discussion on the position of freedom of expression and media in peace negotiation with the Taliban. Deputy Information and Culture Minister for Publication Affairs, Sayed Aqa Hussain Fazel Sancharaki said at the meeting that the government of national unity has seriously investigated up to 1000 cases of violence against journalists, over the last few years.
“A mechanism has been created within the framework of the joint government and media committee, that assesses all cases of violence against journalist as soon as possible,” Sancharaki assured.
Other participants also spoke about the issue and shed light about violence against Journalists.
