KABUL: The Basketball Wheelchair Federation of Afghanistan (BWFA) held a three-day training and arbitration seminar attended by international juries from Iran, the other day.
The scientific and theoretical seminar was held in support and cooperation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and held at the committee’s compound.
Up to 25 jurors and 22 trainers for 14 sport teams including four teams from female athletes with each team consisting of ten athletes attended the seminar.
Shukrullah Zirak Deputy Executive Head to the Basketball Wheelchair Federation of Afghanistan (BWFA) told the participants that the aim of the seminar was to both scientifically and theoretically build the capacity of the federation’s trainers and juries and professionalize them by the Iranian trainers. “We want our federation’s trainers and juries to be able to attend the international competitions, as well,” Zirak said.
At the seminar, Abbas Kochak the head coach for the Iranian Basketball Wheelchair Federation said sport workshops are for strengthening friendly, cultural and social ties, particularly in the field sport.
“We want to identify talented features through the training seminar to help them attend as trainers or juries in the international competitions,” he said.
