ARCS providing equal humanitarian services to people in need

Every year, the last week of the month of Mizan (16 – 22 October) is known as Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) Special Week. During the week, ARCS staff members and volunteers run a donation collection campaign to gather relief items from people throughout Afghanistan.
Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) is engaged the whole year in delivering humanitarian assistance to victims of incidents caused by conflicts and natural disasters in each part of the country. ARCS is expecting the people in particular national traders and investors to provide donation to the committee during the special week so that the committee can further expand its humanitarian activities in the country.
The special week is an opportunity to promote, publicize the seven fundamental principles and ARCS objectives, and appreciate volunteers’ utmost attempts in providing relief items to affected people in most remote areas where no one else can reach. ARCS is an independent, impartial, neutral and sole-national humanitarian organization that the government does not allocate any budget to the National Society’s programs.
Thus, people’s donations during ARCS Special Week is one of the most important source that can financially support ARCS’s goals. During the Special Week, Afghan generous and benevolent compatriots including national traders and investors, merchants, government and NGO employees and ordinary people contribute to ARCS.
The week is also a special opportunity for all Afghans to donate relief items with an aim to alleviate the man-made and natural-affected population throughout Afghanistan. Consequently, Afghan Red Crescent Society asks all Afghans in any career to contribute their relief items during the Special Week and fulfill their national and religious liabilities toward the affected populations.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with 191 member National Societies. As part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, their work is guided by seven fundamental principles; humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.
One of principal mottos of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Society is action rather than word. Their employees by putting their life at risk have made efforts to save the life of humans in each corner of Afghanistan in the past few decades.
In Afghanistan, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for Afghanistan since 30 years ago is committed to continue its services to the people. Head of ICRC has said that the committee’s services to the people of Afghanistan would be different in 2018 comparing to previous years.
He added that ICRC would continue its operation in Afghanistan despite of security challenges and threats to its employees in the country.
Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) as the 83rdmember of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement has been following the fundamental principles for more than 8 decades. ARCS is the sole country-wide humanitarian organization that is colleague to government in humanitarian affairs during armed conflicts and natural disasters.
