Another 758 COVID-19 positive cases recorded in Afghanistan

KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday reported 758 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 1,323 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total cases in the country to 17,267.
According to deputy minister of public health Wahid Majroh, 24 COVID-19 deaths and 78 recovered patients recorded in the last 24 hours.
Kabul is a hotspot with 332 positive cases reported in the past 24 hours.
Elsewhere, positive cases were reported in Herat (216), Kandahar (54), Balkh (52), Jawzjan (48), Logar (19), Faryab (11), Kunar (11), Badakhshan (5), Nuristan (5), Nangarhar (3) and Samangan (2).
The total number of known deaths is 270 and recovered cases is 1,450.
So far, the ministry has tested 42,273 samples countrywide.
According to Majroh, total active cases in the country is 15,451. The total accumulated confirmed cases is 17,267.
Meanwhile addressing media  at the Government Media and Information Center, deputy minister of publications for Ministry of Information and Culture Abdul Manan Shiway Sharq said that a three month public awareness programs were planned and would be executed from June 10.
He said the public awareness  programs on COVID-19 to be broadcasted via 121 TVs, 231 radios and electronic media.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 380,384 and the number of global coronavirus cases is 6,385,902, according to Johns Hopkins University.
