ANDSF resume military operations against Taliban

Following increasing of attacks of Taliban fighters on a number of the country’s provinces in particular Zabul where a number of ANDSF personnel have been martyred recently, military officials have ordered resumption of military operations against Taliban fighters in the country.
Acting minister of defense Asadullah Khalid while condemning recent attack of the Taliban group on Afghan security forces stressed that Taliban fighters have persisted on their attacks on Afghan security forces, saying that the Afghan defense and security forces have been ordered to be in active defense position in which they could launch military operations against Taliban fighters if attacked.
Pointing to coronavirus outbreak in the country, acting minister of defense has asked for ceasefire and reduction of violence by the Taliban group as asked previously by EU special representative to Afghanistan.
Afghanistan government has always insisted on ceasefire and reduction of violence by the Taliban group as the only way to reach peace is ceasefire across the country.
Presidential office has strongly condemns the Taliban attack on the Afghan Security and Defense Forces in Zabul province in which many lost their lives. According to the office, this heinous act of the Taliban is a clear example of their commitment for continued violence and against the Afghan peace process.
In recent years, casualties of Afghan defense and security forces have raised concerns, but Afghan experts believe that good military planning and equipment can play effective role in reduction of the ANDSF casualties in fighting terrorist groups in the country.
“Sound management, having coordination between relevant security organs in battlefields and on time supplying can be effective in reduction of the ANDSF casualties and this should be put in priority,” said Atiqullah Amarkhil, an Afghan military expert.
He added unfortunately report related to increasing of ANDSF casualties can put direct and negative impacts on morale of all ANDSF soldiers and officers as well as their families, insisting on a mechanism that could prevent from increasing of casualties of ANDSF personnel in fighting against terrorist groups in the country. Afghan military experts suggested that recruitment as well as training process of ANDSF should be standardized as further military training to ANDSF personnel can help prevent casualties in battlefields, stressing on further coordination between security organs as coordination in battlefields can be effective for reduction of casualties and controlling battles.
According to Afghan military experts, for execution of offensive operations, it is necessary that Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) should be further equipped and strengthened. It is worth mentioning that based on instruction of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the country’s ANDSF had been in defense position during week in reduction of violence.
