Afghanistan defense and security officials have assured that the country’s national defense and security forces are completely ready to defend the country and its people after the full US and NATO troops withdrawal from the country.
Speaking in a joint news briefing with the country’s defense and security officials the other day, National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib said Afghanistan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) were completely ready to address all concerns raises in connection with security in the country following the announcement of the US and NATO troops withdrawal.
“Currently, Afghanistan air force has 163 different planes which can address all security problems across the country,” Mohib said, stressing that gap has been addressed in the country’s air force, but US and NATO troop withdrawal not meant end of their financial and technical support to ANDSF.
Pointing to destruction of military equipment by US and NATO forces, National Security Adviser said that foreign forces will handover military equipment worth of $1 billion to ANDSF when they leave the country.
Meanwhile, Yasin Zia, the acting minister of defense while assuring of the increasing capabilities of Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) for independently defending the country and its people after the full US and NATO troops withdrawal from Afghanistan said the country’s ministry of defense was fully ready to hold all responsibilities and there would be no fear and concern after the US troops withdrawal from the country.
Rejecting all claims for destruction of military equipment by US and NATO forces in their bases, acting minister of defense said currently all bases have been handed over to ANDSF except bases in Mazar-e-Sharif, Kabul and Bagram
Acting minister of defense by pointing to increasing threats being posed by the Taliban group said Taliban’s most attacks have been repulsed by ANDSF, assuring that the future attacks would be also foiled and there was nothing to concern.
Meanwhile, a number of Afghan military experts by believing in increasing capabilities in ANDSF after the US and NATO troop withdrawal from Afghanistan say Afghan National Defense and Security Forces have received modern trainings and have combat capabilities to address security situation in the country.
“Combat technical and logistical capabilities are very important for the country’s defense and security organs. They can do well in battlefields if they are supported logistically and technically on regular basis,” said Shir Mohammad Karimi, former army chief of staff.
He said that Afghanistan government should pay considerable attention to technically and logistically supporting the country’s defense and security forces.
Afghanistan government says US and NATO member countries have committed to continued support to ANDSF particularly the country’s air forces.
This comes amid of increasing targeted killings, IED blasts and armed attacks of the Taliban group across the country. Meanwhile, Afghan defense and security forces have assured the people of addressing all security challenges ahead.
