Afghan National Defense and Security Forces officials in the country’s west zone say Taliban with cooperation with foreign fighters are planning to capture more areas in the country’s west, but the country’s defense and security forces have resisted and inflected heavy casualties to the group. The ANA commander in the country’s west believes that Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) are currently engaged in fighting with the Taliban in various parts of the country’s west zone provinces.
According to ANDSF officials, the ongoing war has been imposed by foreign terrorist groups and the country’s defense and security forces are making continued effort to spoil their vicious plans and are working to protect the past 19 year’s achievements and defend the country and its people.
Meanwhile, governor of Herat in his recent remarks has warned Taliban that they cannot break the current system of the country and their dream for capturing more areas won’t come true. He has claimed that Taliban have turned to destroy the country’s public infrastructures and natural resources.
There has been no evidence to show Taliban has become stronger from the point of military, but recent violent attacks, increasing targeted killings and IED blasts of the group have shown that they have turned to offensive position against the people and government of Afghanistan although most of their attacks have been repelled and suppressed by the country’s national defense and security forces. The ongoing clashes between ANDSF and Taliban are the clear example of the situation on the ground. Currently, the country’s defense and security forces are responding most of violent attacks of the Taliban in Helmand, Kunduz, Takhar, Baghlan and other provinces despite of all challenges they are facing with.
In such circumstances, the country’s defense and security forces need widespread and overall support from the people and government of Afghanistan as well as the international community. High-ranking officials of the country’s defense and security forces in the country’s west as well as local officials of Herat believe that Taliban has not cut its ties with terrorist groups as they jointly use each other’s safe havens to plan and conduct their attacks against the people and government of Afghanistan.
A number of Afghan political and military experts believe that by arriving the spring and summer seasons heavy clashes will be erupted between the country’s defense and security forces and Taliban fighters in various parts of the country. They say Taliban will further intensify their attacks on ANDSF and people of Afghanistan to capture more areas in the country.
On the other hand, Afghanistan government has also taken preparation to respond violent attacks of the Taliban as necessary preparations for the coming war seasons have been declared by the country’s defense and security officials.
Nevertheless, what the people of Afghanistan want is peace and a comprehensive ceasefire between the two warring sides in coming war seasons. This comes amid of efforts that have been resumed for resumption of the intra-Afghan talks between Afghanistan government and Taliban negotiating teams in Doha. Since the resumption of the talks between the two sides, no considerable progress has been made.
