1

It is determined that a national negotiating team is going to be appointed by Afghanistan government for intra-Afghani dialogue. Presidential and chief executive offices have informed of unprecedented developments in connection with formation of the national negotiating team for peace talks with the Taliban group.
The United States Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad, who is on a multi-nation trip for his efforts of facilitating intra-Afghan peace talks, had asked for formation of a new national negotiating team with participation of representatives of all political parties and civil society organizations to kick off the intra-Afghani dialogue.
Officials for Afghanistan government have already informed of developments in connection with formation of the negotiating team for peace talks with the Taliban group. Deputy spokesperson to presidential office Shah Hussain Murtazavi says political parties have introduced their representatives for membership of the negotiating team. Previously, a number of political parties including Jamiat-e-Islami and Junbesh-e-Islami have confirmed that they have introduced their representatives for membership in the respective team.
Currently, work on reviewing list of members of the team is underway. It is said that members of the negotiating team will be soon introduced and shared with the people.
Meanwhile, chief executive office has also informed of developments in connection with formation of the negotiating team. According to deputy spokesperson to chief executive office Omid Mesam, work on formation of the team has already started, adding that in near future the team will be formed.
On the other hand, Mohammad Natiqi, head of parties’ political committee, says the agenda of the negotiating team has been shared with US special peace envoy.
“The committee is in touch with US special peace envoy, who will probably meet with political parties this time too and will discuss developments in this regard,” Natiqi said.
US Special Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has already begun another multi-nation trip on Afghanistan peace to Afghanistan, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Jordan and Qatar from March 25 to April 10.
According to US Department of State, Khalilzad will travel to Afghanistan, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Jordan and Qatar in March 25-April 10, as part of the overall effort to facilitate a peace process that brings all Afghan parties together in inclusive intra-Afghan negotiations.
Previously, US officials and representatives of the Taliban group had declared that both sides have reached considerable progress in connection with US troop withdrawal and not using Afghanistan against US and other countries in fifth round of peace talks held in Qatar.
Currently, the approach of Afghanistan and US officials is to focus on ending the imposed war through peace negotiations with the Taliban group as efforts have increased in national and international level for finding a political solution for the ongoing war and violence in the country.
