KABUL: The meeting of the National Security Council chaired by the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, was held at the presidential palace yesterday, a statement said.
At the meeting, the Foreign Minister and the Minister of Refugees and Repatriation presented their reports on the recent incident of Afghan refugees in Iran, and then discussed the legal, political and social aspects of the incident, the presidential statement added.
The meeting approved MoFA’s demand for sending of a high ranking delegation to Iran, stressing that they should focus on border issues, considering border mechanism and available agreements as well as distribution of E-ID cards for the migrants.
Similarly, the Office of the National Security Council instructed to further regulate the country’s borders and informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that raise awareness among migrants through the Afghan Embassy in Iran and other relevant departments, including the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the statement added.
