KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday said 62 cases of Coronavirus were registered in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours, taking the nation’s tally to 39,548.
In a statement, the ministry said 370 individuals underwent tests and 62 of them were diagnosed with the virus during the period.
At least 42 new cases were recorded in Herat, five in Daikundi, four each in Kabul and Nimroz, three in Badakhshan, two in Bamyan and one each in Baghlan and Zabul.
About 68 people were recovered from the pandemic during the period, pushing the number of those recovered to 33,045.
Two persons died in the past 24 hours from the virus that has so far killed 1,469 people.
However, acting Minister of Public Health Jawad Ahmad Osmani told a press conference on last Monday that the pandemic was under control in the country. He had said they were fully prepared to fight a second wave of coronavirus in the country.
