KABUL: Senior Iranian and Afghan border guard officials in a meeting on Friday underlined the need for greater control over the common borders of the two countries.
During the meeting on the common border areas in Eastern Iran, the two sides discussed ways to improve the monitoring over the two sides common borders.
The Iranian border guard officials also highlighted the numerous cultural, religious and national values the two nations shared and demanded more control on common borderline by the Afghanistan officials.
In a relevant development on April 23, Iranian Foreign Ministry’s special assistant for Afghanistan affairs stressed the need for broadening of trade transactions between the two countries through their common borders.
Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian made the remarks in a meeting with Governor General of Nimrouz Province Seyyed Wali Sultan at the end of his visit to Afghanistan.
Taherian and Sultan voiced their satisfaction over good relations between Afghanistan’s Nimrouz province and Iran’s Eastern provinces, stressing the need for boosting border exchanges by twofold.
Sultan, for his part, stressed the need for cooperation in meeting Nimrouz’ needs to fight coronavirus and flooding.
