KABUL: Second Vice President Sarwar Danesh met with British Embassy chargé d’affaires in Kabul on Sunday, BNA reported.
British chargé d’ affaires briefed Second VP Danesh about holding first “Press Freedom International Conference” expected to be held in London and said that the officials of forty countries would attend in it, the agency added.
Considering wide efforts of the Afghan government in supporting freedom of speech and press, he invited VP Danesh to attend the conference.
He called VP Danesh’s trip to Britain the indicator of both countries’ effort on bolstering mutual relations and said that the British government is committed to continue cooperation with the government and people of Afghanistan.
During the meeting, VP Danesh called British government and people close friends of Afghan people.
Expressing happiness over participation in the mentioned conference, VP Danesh said that the government of Afghanistan expected to use other international partners’ experiences during the international conference in supporting press.
He also called establishment of the joint government and media committee led by him a clear example of the government’s practical steps to prevent violence against journalists and support press freedom and added that the government of Afghanistan is committed to its international commitments in this regard.
