ADB’s assessment of Afghanistan’s economic growth

In a fresh assessment, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has said that Afghanistan has 2.7 percent economic growth this year. The goal behind this assessment is showing of agricultural products and enhancement of export to overseas.
According to the assessment, it is possible in upcoming year, Afghanistan would have 3.5 percent economic growth.
On the other, in its fresh assessment, this bank regards continuation of insecurity in some parts of the country as a matter of concern for economic growth of the country. But the in charges of ADB believe some parts of agricultural lands that suffered harms as a result of drought is transient.
They say there are also some concerns about political situation ruling in the country and would affect the capital holders and merchants in Afghanistan.
On the other, the authorities in ministry of agriculture saying that comparing last year, the level of vegetable, grains and other agricultural products had considerable increment. For instance, the level of grain production was 42 percent and the level of vegetable and fruits products anticipated from 25 percent to 30 percent comparing recent years.
According to the assessment, in the six months of 2019, the level of inflation was 2 percent and the rate of exports of agricultural products shows an increase of 1.2 percent comparing the same period of last year.
Likewise, in first six months, the level of import of merchandized shows a reduction to these assessments.
The professional deputy of Central Statistics Organization, Hasibullah Mowahid says that if the level of several years’ products be investigated, the growth of economy of Afghanistan mostly relate to climate changes. Last year, continued rainfalls caused the agricultural products to get increased, he added.
The ADB fresh assessments regard insecurities as great challenge faced by capital holders and merchants.
The assessments also indicate that inflation and hike of price merchandized had its own negative impact on economic dealings. But, despite this, the worth of Afghani against Pakistan rupee and Toman of Iran enjoying from a better position.
Economic experts believe that because of low level of security challenges and drought in neighboring countries, last year, the economic growth of Afghanistan was low.
The ADB also anticipated the economic growth of Afghanistan in 2018, 2.5 percent.
