KABUL: 700 needy and miserable families affected from recent natural incidents have received food packages containing 50kg rice and 100kg wheat in Kabul.
In ceremony held yesterday on this occasion, head of operation for state ministry of disaster management Mullah Janan Shayeq said the food packages containing 50kg rice and 100kg wheat were distributed to miserable, flood-affected and internally displaced families.
“The food packages have been part of humanitarian aid provided by China and Kazakhstan,” Sayeq said, adding that the humanitarian aid would be continue as a number of countries have promised for continued assistance to Afghanistan. He said that the aid has been distributed to the families after a survey conducted by the ministry of disaster management.
Receiving the aid from the state ministry of disaster management, Rohina, a resident of Kabul’s Kot-e-Sangi, praised the IEA for the aid, asking the government to continue such assistance to miserable families.
She said her husband was a former employee of the government, but he lost his job and now needed such urgent assistance.
With increased poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan, millions of Afghan families need urgent humanitarian assistance. A number of countries and international organizations have sent food and non-food packages worth millions of dollar to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
