60 helicopters repaired in a year, Minister of Defense

In response to a question about the U.S. drones violating the country’s air, Mujahid said the American drones enter Afghanistan from Pakistan. “We want Pakistan not to allow them to enter Afghanistan.”

KABUL: Acting Minister of National Defense, in a press conference on Sunday here in Kabul, said that the technical team of the ministry was capable of repairing 60 damaged helicopters in a year.
Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqoub Mujahid, Acting Minister of National Defense, during the government’s accountability program, said that the number of the country’s national armed forces has reached to150, 000.
He said, we have 8 border brigades, each of them having around 3,000 members of the armed forces. Mujahid added that in the past year, more than 60 damaged helicopters have been repaired and are now ready to be used for military missions.
In response to a question about the U.S. drones flying the country’s air, Mujahid said the American drones enter Afghanistan from Pakistan. “We want Pakistan not to allow them to enter Afghanistan.”
In the past days, the ministry made many flights to rescue those trapped in floods across the country’s provinces affected by natural disaster.
He added that some more than 3,000 people who were stuck in the floods in different parts of the country, have been evacuated and taken to safe grounds.
The country’s defense minister said: “Killing of Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan is a baseless claim by the U.S. The investigation is underway on the matter.”
He said that the forces of the Islamic Army have the ability to defend the country’s territorial integrity and independence, and continue to make rapid efforts to improve their professional level and equipment.
Helicopters and planes that were transferred to neighboring countries after change in the system, are the right of Afghans and should be returned to the country, he urged.
Meanwhile, Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Chief of Army Staff said that the problems that occurred from time to time along the border areas with some neighboring countries, are the legacy of the previous governments and the Islamic Emirate is making effort to solve them through dialogue.
He added that those malicious people who have launched rockets at the borders have been identified and arrested.
Fitrat said that all parts of Panjshir province were under the control of the Islamic Emirate and security situation was normal, but some malicious circles are launching propaganda to show insecurity in the province.
