3rdKabul Process Conference to be soon held in Kabul


Officials for Afghanistan government say it is determined that Kabul Process meeting will be held in near future in Kabul where the country’s ongoing peace efforts will be discussed.
“More than 30 countries and international organizations have been invited to Kabul Process Conference and its main agenda for discussion is the ongoing peace efforts as the initiative of peace is the government of Afghanistan, but no exact date has been set for the meeting,” a spokesperson to ministry of foreign affairs said, adding details related to the meeting will be soon shared with media.
Report on holding of the 3rd Kabul Process meeting is released amid increasing of peace efforts as the fifth round of peace talks is ongoing between US delegation led by the country’s special peace envoy for Afghanistan and representatives of the Taliban group in Qatar.
A number of political experts and senators believe that holding the 3rd Kabul Process meeting can be a good opportunity for maintaining peace in the country and rooting out terrorism in the region.
“Maintaining peace in Afghanistan and rooting out terrorism in the region need increasing cooperation of the regional and world countries,” Mohammad Alam Ezedyar, deputy to Afghanistan Senate said.
He asked the international community in particular US to take coordinated steps towards counter terrorism threatening all countries of the world, adding that by following joint measures Afghanistan peace efforts would go well.
Amir Mohammad, an Afghan political expert, says holding the 3rd Kabul Process meeting is very significant for improvement of situation in the region.
“It will be one of the significant meetings for improvement of security situation and maintaining peace and stability in the region,” Amir Mohammad said, adding that Afghans hope the 3rd Kabul Process meeting can play effective role in bringing peace to the country.
Meanwhile, Jamal Farahmand, an Afghan researcher, says unfortunately Afghanistan is among countries that has suffered from increasing terrorism and extremism posed by terrorist groups for years as currently there are nearly 20 terrorism groups operating in Afghanistan.
“Joint coordination and cooperation of the world countries towards fighting terrorism can help Afghanistan reach lasting stability as international terrorist groups are mostly in Afghanistan killing innocent Afghan civilians and fighting the government and international forces,” Amir Mohammad stressed, adding that the 3rd Kabul Process meeting can be a good opportunity for all to support the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process to end war and tensions in the country.
Afghan political experts believe that the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process can help the country reach lasting peace and stability and ask the international community and regional countries to fully support the Afghan government’s peace initiative.
It is worth mentioning that on 2nd Kabul Process meeting held last year on Feb 28, Afghanistan government delivered clear plan in connection with direct peace talks with the Taliban group. The plan was fully supported by all countries and international organizations participating in the respective meeting.
