KABUL: Chaired by Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the 2nd meeting on the expansion of criminal technic & forensic medicines services was held yesterday at Sapidar Palace.
In the meeting, ministries of public health and interior briefed related to situation of forensic medicines and criminal technic services.
Based on information of the technical team, that section of the forensic medicines managed by the ministry of public health is facing lack of equipment; also, the ministry is facing lack of professional cadres in DNA section.
Based on the information, there are necessary equipment and professional cadres in both ministries of public health and interior and such services delivery will improve if close cooperation and coordination tighten between the two respective ministries. In the meeting, the technical team suggested that both sections of forensic medicine should be run by one of the two ministries. After hearing the report, chief executive said in current situation they would face with problem if one section shifted to another one as it would cause shortcomings in delivering services to citizens, instructing the ministry of public health to create a joint core and take serious step towards delivering forensic medicine services and DNA.
