Liberty, justice core principles of republic system

The US-Taliban peace deal and the recent efforts for intra-Afghan talks in Doha have created immense waves of fears and hopes in Afghanistan. Despite of repeated calls by the Afghan politicians and officials for safeguarding of the last two decades achievements, the people still fearing the loss of republic system and the gains made so far.
Addressing representatives of both houses of national assembly and their families at the Presidential Palace the other day, President Ghani said the beauty of the republic system was that each individual gets the opportunity to serve the country.
Indeed, republicans believe freedom is one of human basic needs for social development. By expanding human choices and providing democratic relations in society – the country feels secure, develop well, successful and people become prosperous.
Freedom indicates democracy, which is the government from the people for the people. Among all the systems of governing in the world, republic system can guarantee freedom concepts. Because there is tolerance, inclusiveness, and optimism, people have the right to disagree on certain matters of principle and policy – in republic system, people are open and free, the officials respect expressing different points of views.
Afghans should not have fear from the talks, as the Afghan delegation for negotiations have set the republic system as the redline, considering people’s and our security forces’ mass sacrifices for protection of this system and freedom, aiming to pave the way for the next generation to live in a safe, free and sound environment.
Taliban and other militants associated with them have been sparing no effort to target the common masses and implement their vicious goals, but they have failed to do so, as Afghans bravely stood against them and pushed them into negotiation table.
Under republic system, people can see that good government is based on the individual and that each person’s ability, dignity, freedom and responsibility can be honored and recognized. Moreover, people would believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, age, sex or national origin and free media as well.
During the Taliban’s emirate system, Afghans were not allowed to raise their voices and even didn’t have access to their basic rights. Women were largely beaten and deprived of education and even could not take part in official gatherings. The Taliban regime forced people to follow their lifestyles and individuals were not allowed even to wear their desired clothes.
But Afghans much have achieved in post-Taliban era. It is the fruit of republic system that Afghanistan now boasts hundreds of newspapers, television and radio stations, and web-based media outlets. The free media increasingly play a role in public life in Afghanistan.
Today the media can criticize the government performances, conduct debate and analyze the status of decision makers, while in Taliban time there was only one radio station [Radio Sharia] that was imposing their own news and activities on people.
The republic system is the best mean for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government. The Afghan’s citizen men and women have a historical responsibility.
They have to demonstrate their hatenesses against Emirate system and back the government for keeping the achievements of two decades. Liberty and justice are the basic principles of republic system. Let us protect these two values in Afghanistan.
