KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani discussed land distribution, second phase of Kajaki hydropower dam project, and providing stimulus packages to small businesses on Thursday morning at the meeting of High Economic Council (HEC), the presidential press office said yesterday.
Chairing the meeting at the Presidential Palace, President Ghani approved in principle the land distribution plan and providing stimulus packages for small businesses.
The president instructed the ministries of Industry and Commerce, Agriculture and Irrigation, and Afghanistan Investment Facilitation Unit to comprehensively monitor the land distribution process, where lands will be distributed to 51 companies in industrial parks, the statement added.
He also called for putting practical mechanisms and clear procedures in place for providing stimulus packages to small businesses in an appropriate manner, which was presented by Ajmal Ahmady, acting governor of Da Afghanistan Bank.
President Ghani, as quoted in the statement, also called for evaluation of second phase of Kajaki dam’s technical design by a third-party delegation. The president instructed the Office of Senior Advisor to the President on Legal Affairs to seek consultation from international consultants by taking into account the terms and conditions of the World Bank and supporting documents and present its report in the upcoming meetings of HEC.
The president instructed the National Water Affairs Regulation Authority to conduct fundamental studies on Musa Qala Dam and Nahr-e Saraaj Canal in Helmand province and stressed that both will be included as priority projects into the next fiscal year’s budget, according to the statement.
