KABUL: The Independent Election Commission (IEC) called 2019 presidential election as one of the unprecedented, successful and transparent one in last 18 years.
Addressing media at the end of presidential election here Saturday evening, IEC chief Hawa Alam Nuristani said Presidential election was held successfully amid high security and turnout across the country.
“There were biometric devices in 98.9 percent of the ballot centers and Afghan forces were present in 99.9 percent of the voting stations,” Nuristani said while thanking people’s vast participation in the national process.
“We did have positive feedbacks from the foreign observers despite challenges and threats,” she said, while admitting some technical issues in some parts but vowed to address the complaints.
IEC Chief also praised Afghan forces efforts for providing security to the polling centers and commended role of the Afghan media in covering the election process.
