NUG leaders denounce Kabul Ulama Council Chief assassination

KABUL: President of The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani strongly denounced the assassination of the Kabul Ulama Chief, Maulavi Abdul Basir Haqqani, late on Sunday, a statement from the Presidential Press Office said.
The country’s president said terrorists by launching attacks on religious meetings and killing ulama and Hafizes of the Holy Quran have practically shown their enmity with the Islamic teachings, said the statement.
The enemy will never reach their targets by killing the religious scholars and other personalities making effort for peace restoration in the country, the statement quoted.
The present instructed the security organs to arrest those involved in the death of Maulavi Haqqani and bringing them to justice, according to the statement.
Another statement from the CE Office said: “With deep regret, we received a grieve report about the killing of Maulavi Abdul Basir Haqqani’s by unidentified gunmen, recently in the Kabul City.” Indeed, his murder was a big tragedy as he was talented preacher and the servant of the country and the people, said the statement. The enemies of the country should know they would pay the prices of their crimes, the statement said.
