China ready to assist drought-hit Afghans: Envoy

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Chinese ambassador to Kabul Liu Jinsong at the Presidential Palace here on Thursday, a presidential statement said, quoting the Chinese envoy as saying Beijing was ready to provide financial and food support to drought affected Afghans.
The Chinese ambassador also said his country was ready to help develop technical and vocational capabilities of the Afghan ministries, adding China has been supporting ceasefire and the Afghan-led and owned peace process.
President Ghani hailed China assistance with Afghanistan and termed the neighboring country’s role in stability of the region as vital, asking envoy to convey his and Afghan nation’s regards to people and president of China.
