Govt’s promise to control airspace fulfilled, President Ghani

KABUL: Afghanistan gained control of its airspace on Thursday when President Ashraf Ghani inaugurated a radar system at the Hamid Karzai International Airport.
A statement from the Presidential Palace office said the new most advance and modern system would help secure the Afghanistan airspace and increase the number of flights.
At the radar system’s inauguration at the Hamid Karzai International Airport, Mahmood Shah Habibi, head of the Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA), provided technical information regarding the new radar system.
Masuda Kakar, the first woman air traffic control officer, briefing the gathering, said they could now provide all air traffic services after installation of the new radar system.
President Ghani during his speech congratulated the entire nation over the successful installation of the new radar system and ACAA efforts in training its personnel inside the country.
He said one of the national unity government’s key commitments was regaining control of the Afghanistan airspace, which had been achieved.
He said his government’s main target was turning Afghanistan into a regional roundabout. “And today we achieved the target through the air.” The president stressed over technology use and said technology was the need of the modern area and the most advanced technology was being used in the radar system.
It is worth to mention the new Radar system to increase number of flight in Afghanistan, to vertically and horizontally decrease distance between flights and to also increase flight routes in the country.
