Revenues should be increased through transparent mechanism, President Ghani

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, in a meeting with the chiefs of the country’s provincial customhouses and accountants said that there was a need for a transparent mechanism to help increase the country’s revenues, a statement said Friday.
The provincial chiefs of customhouses and accountants shared reports about their achievements, challenges and performances, the president said the central customhouses’ management should become transparent, as millions of cashes were lost through corruption, the statement quoted.
“There is a need for a transparent mechanism to help revenues increased,” the president reiterated.
Foreign aids were decreasing and the country’s revenues needed to climb 8 billion annually, the president added and asked the customhouses to prevent the conflict of interests.
He said appointments in the customhouses would be through a transparent process and any duty interferences should be prevented in the customhouses.
The president emphasized on establishment of modern facilities, technology system, safety of entering the customhouses, providing the rules, simplification of the processes, laboratories, creation of special security segment, prevention of extorts and creation of residential areas close to the customhouses to the customhouses.
