KABUL: An irrigation canal worth more than AFN 1.7 million funded by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind) has been constructed in Safar Khan village, Zandajan district of Herat province.
Designed to directly benefit 250 families, the irrigation canal 310 m long, 1.5 m deep and 1 m wide will properly supply water to a total of 150 jiribs of land which will lead to a significant increase in agricultural productivities that play a significant role in rural economic well-being.
Furthermore, some 800 labor days have been created for both local skilled and unskilled laborers during the implementation of canal project.
It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Citizens’ Charter-funded development projects are currently underway, while some of them have already been completed in various communities of Herat province.
