10 ancient relics unearthed in Ghazni

KABUL: Officials in Ghazni provincial directorate of informant and culture said Saturday that up to 10 ancient relics have been discovered, following an exaction on a water canal, Bakhtar News Agency reported.
The relics were found, when the provincial municipality workers started excavating a water ditch to supply potable water for the residents of Bazazi of the Ghazni city, the agency quoted Bashir Mohammadi, the provincial director of information and culture.
“Two of the uncovered historical relics have been stolen and police has started investigation into the case, assuring that the objects,” would soon be found and returned.
Meanwhile, Mahbobullah Rahmani, the provincial tourism officer confirmed in an interview with The Kabul Times that the found stone-made relics which have been gunpowder pot and candlestick belonged to the Islamic era have been found, when the workers started excavating the sites for water supply. He added the project was now stopped and a team of archeologists has been called for professionally continuing the excavation in the area.
Rahmani said the found objects have been kept safe under an assigned delegation by the provincial directorate of information and culture and would be lodged in the museum later.
